Can't get save game to work on EZ Flash Omega

Hi I am trying to get my Zelda The Minish Cap save game from my RetroPie to my EZ Flash Omega. It's in SRM format. I tried all of the following, every time it results in Zelda not showing any saved games:

• Use gbaconv to convert SRM to SAV
  
  
• Rename .srm to .sav
  
  
• Just copy over the .sav file

The SAV / SRM file has exactly the same name as the rom. It is in the SAVER folder. Creating a new game on the EZ Flash, saving and restarting let's me reload that save, so it's...
